Kenny Chesney - The Man Behind the Music
Even for those whom are not into country, everyone has heard of Kenny Chesney - and probably even heard a song or two. Kenny Chesney is, currently, the Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. This is one of many great accomplishments for this amazing performer. Kenny Chesney has a seductive childhood charm about him, and his music is pure - not a show you want to miss.
Kenny Chesney has created 13 albums, since his career start in 1993. All but two of these albums have been certified as either Gold or Platinum (certified ratings are reached when the number of sales of an album exceeds certain numbers). More than 30 of his songs have hit, and stayed on the country top 10 lists. Even with his popularity, Kenny Chesney remains a down to earth, everyday man.
Mr. Chesney was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1968. When he was 5-years old, his parents had given him his first guitar. You might think this is where his career started, but he quickly put the guitar down as it “hurt his fingers”. Later in life he played, as a receiver, on the Gibbs High School football team.
After high school, Kenny Chesney went to East Tennessee State University. He was involved in a Bluegrass Program during his term here. At this point in his life, Kenny Chesney had started saving for a new guitar. Once he had bought one, and graduated, he followed his dream to Nashville.
Shortly after his arrival, in 1992, BMI and Opryland Music Group signed him. He had two top hits, right of the bat, “In my Wildest Dreams” and “All I Need to Know”. Each of his songs tells a story about a piece of his life, as each one tells of his emotions and during particular events that he has experienced. This personalization is one of the many reasons audiences adore him.
Aside from singing - like many other stars today - Chesney has decided to begin a new venture. Rather than create his own clothing line or patent his own scent, he is planning to create his own Rum. Being the caring person he is he will not do so without consulting his fans. He surveyed his fans - from his site - to find out what they would like to see in this new Rum. Back to his music, one of his more recent shows, in Boston, sold out in less than 10 minutes. With our weak economy, and the fact that consumers are not purchasing entertainment items, this is an amazing feat.
