Property of Elmo
Based on the Sesame Street little, furry, red muppet character Elmo, the toy company Tyco created a toy named Tickle me Elmo in 1996. The cool thing about this Elmo toy is hearing his laugh when he is being squeezed and it even gets better when he is being repeatedly squeezed because it also shakes that made the kids enjoy watching it.
The toy had unsuspected demands on the market but unfortunately the supplies were not enough. Children were so delighted that they wanted the toy so much but because of shortage commotion started. A parent fights with another parent to have the toy for their children. There was also a shocking accident caused by the toy where a Wal-Mart clerk was hurt badly.
The next year, Tyco released other Sesame Street Characters tickle me toys. It includes Big Bird, Ernie, and Cookie Monster. But unlike the Elmo products these products did not get that much attention in the market. And in the fall of 2001, Tickle me Elmo toys stopped its laughter.
After ten years since the creation of the Tickle me Elmo dolls, new tickle me Elmo dolls had been introduced to the market. Announced in 2006 at American International Toy Fair, the latest Elmo toy was named TMX in short of Tickle Me Ten or Tickle Me Extreme. The toys were much more fun to watch than the previous tickle me toys because now Elmo falls on the floor while laughing hard and begging the tickler to stop the tickle while smashing his fists.
Children can choose from three Tickle Me Extreme Elmo doll versions. These three versions can be recognized by their boxes which has the warning sticker in front, with the top secret sticker and the one with the hole to try the doll. The Elmo doll in each version says different greetings once it has been pulled out of the box.
The Elmo doll mania came back. A report even came out early about a guy pointing a gun to somebody just to give him the Elmo doll. Consumers may assure their safety if they can buy the toy online rather than stores even though the price is a little higher.
